I had a tummy tuck 13 years ago, and i still have severe itching above my belly button, 24-7. I have to used itching cream all the time, what can I do to make the itching go away, thank you.
Answer: Postoperative itching It sounds like you may be experiencing nerve related pain which is causing the severe itching. I would follow up with your PCP and discuss medication options such as gabapentin. You may also want to try a daily allergy medication such as Claritin. Best of luck.

Answer: Itching Dear oi55, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Making the itching go away By far the best thing you can do to make the itching go away is the absolutely not scratch your skin. Scratching the skin can cause persistent inflammation that perpetuates the cycle. Scratching the skin can also create a feedback loop with neurotransmitter release in the brain that can eventually become a difficult habit to break. Not scratching typically resolves the itching. Certain medication‘s can make this enunciation worse. next time you see your primary care doctor you may want to bring it up with them and also consider seeing a dermatologist. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
