I had a tummy tuck with muscle plication and full body lipo contouring 15 years ago - the results are wonderful. However, 15 years later and I still have a flat stomach but my abdominal wall is very uncomfortable - feels stretched and like my muscles are sitting on my hip bones and pushed under my ribs. Tired of being uncomfortable all the time and investigating options - what could cause this? I have gained 10-15 pound since procedure.
Answer: Uncomfortable abdomen It is unusual to have discomfort so long after your surgery. An evaluation is needed by a board certified plastic surgeon to help diagnose what may be causing your symptoms.

Answer: TT with MP and Lipo 15 years later. My abdominal wall is very uncomfortable. What could cause this? Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately without photographs or an in-person examination it is difficult to offer definite advice and I would schedule a series of in-person consultations to get the best diagnosis and treatment plan.

Answer: Tummy tuck results Dear lizrmo, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Uncomfortable abdomen after tummy tuck It’s a little hard to make any type of accurate assessment based on your post but my best guess is that you have excess visceral fat and the weight gain is the underlying cause. The tummy tuck muscle tightening created less room for your viscera and gaining weight can simply cause pressure against the abdominal wall. Exes visceral fat in someone who’s had a tummy tuck often presents with a bulging upper abdomen. This also typically presents with a sensation that is difficult to take a deep breath and it’s difficult to suck in your abdomen or to push it flat with your hands. If any of those sound like what you have then consider weight loss as the first approach. A tummy tuck reconstruct the entire abdominal wall. This is the station of the body will definitely be different for the person afterwards. With time this typically becomes the new normal and people simply get used to it. Some of this and station changes like the numbness gradually improve for a couple of years. If you’re noticing changes now and it coincides with the white cane and that is probably the underlying cause. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
