Hi I had tummy tuck, lipo, muscle repair and bbl almost 6 wks ago. Am experiencing lots of discomfort, very swollen and sharp like electrical shooting pain and burning sansation on my stomach and back. Now on this 5th week am starting to feel a pain in my upper part of my belly. I was wondering if all these feelings are normal. I've been going to lymphatic massages as recommended and wearing my garment. But sometimes I feel discouraged with all these pains am experiencing. Please advise. Thanks!
Answer: Is it normal.. six weeks post op still experiencing welling and pain? Hello and thank you for sharing. It is not normal to be experiencing intense pain at this point but some pain and swelling is. Some patients take longer to heal for any number of reasons. Six weeks is still early in the healing process so this will surely get better. The sharp pains are probably the normal process of sensory nerves reattaching. This will all get better with time, just make sure your plastic surgeon is aware and make sure you follow his post-op recovery instructions. Please be patient and best of luck!Dr. Miguel Mota

Answer: Healing One of the hardest things to predict after surgery is how much pain a patient will have. Even with the same operation patients will have a wide variation in pain level. Stay positive you are in the early stages of healing--after surgery the body is in the acute phase of healing with the most swelling and discomfort for 6 weeks after that things continue to improve for a full year. So you are just starting the phase where things get better and better every week.

Answer: Recovery from Surgery Hello and thanks for your question. I personally do not perform a BBL with a tummy tuck for the reasons you describe. I would recommend following up frequently with your plastic surgeon. It is very common to have pain after each of these procedures individually. The pain will be even more significant when both were performed simultaneously. All the best,Alex Zuriarrain, MDCleveland Clinic Trained Plastic Surgeon

It is quite normal to go through days and even weeks for the swelling may increase the payment increase and then settle back down. Make sure to be on the lookout for Any redness, fever or fluid leaking from your incisions, these are issues that should be immediately addressed by your surgeon.I hope this helps :)

Answer: Tummytuck Recovery newbod18. I appreciate your concern, however you had a fairly large operation and at this stage of your recovery, the pain and discomfort you are feeling may be caused by sensory nerves reattaching, which is a normal part of the healing process. I have never been a fan of lymphatic massage after Tummytuck, as it can cause a lot of pain with questionable value regarding decrease swelling. Discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon. Good luck.
