10 weeks post tt, and I’m getting sharp needle pains, like someone is poking me with a knife inside out. I noticed it Tuesday while working out, and now I’m just walking and I get them. They are by the sides of the incisions. They come and go, is this normal? At first I thought something was poking me but it’s coming from the inside of my scar. Thank you in advance

These sensations may come from the nerves waking up, or they could be from sutures near the surface. Most of the sutures we use are dissolvable, and will disappear over time. I would expect your sensations to disappear also. Every once in a while, the future comes to the surface and can be felt removed by your plastic surgeon.

mommybear2018. I appreciate your concern, and the pains that you were describing may be secondary to sensory nerves reattaching after your surgery. This is a normal phenomenon and should resolve with time. Check in with your plastic surgeon for a full examination. Good luck.

The needle like pains could be from nerves "waking up" after surgery.  This is commonly described as more of a burning pain.  Sometimes a needle like pain may be felt if there is a suture end that is trying to work its way to the surface.  This may feel sore at times.  It's always best to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.  She/He is most familiar with the details of your surgery and how you've been progressing through recovery.

You are still early on the healing process, which can take up to six months, so please be patient. At the stage you are in, this sensation is normal, because the nerves are still healing and reattaching.
