Purple and red mark after hernia and tummy tuck. Is this normal? (Photo)

Question

I’m 9 days after my hernia and tummy tuck surgery. I noticed that I have purple and redness skin exactly on the same place of the hernia repair. I did not notice it before as I was in the hospital for 6 days until the fluids were less. I’m wondering if this is normal or i need to see my surgeon? I don’t feel any pain. please advise. Note: it’s in the middle part of the upper abdomen just under my breast Thank you

Thank you for the picture, though it is still somewhat difficult to tell exactly what is going on by your pic.  It would appear that you have a bruise, but if you are in a compression garment and it is folding the skin in that location, I have seen this cause some impairment of the blood supply and additional scarring so I would recommend you go in to see your plastic surgeon on Monday if possibly so it can be checked in person.  Best of luck with your continued recovery!

Bruising and swelling is normal just be patient this can take a few weeks to subside, I recommend you follow up with your PS to discuss your concerns.Best wishes.

It looks like a bruise, but I could not say from what. This would be a question for your surgeon. It may well be expected, but check to be certain.
