I recently had a mini tummy tuck to deal with a painful tethered large C Section scar. I told the plastic surgeon that I wanted more of a scar revision than a tuck and that I didn't want my belly button to be lowered or affected in anyway. I'm now absolutely devastated as my belly button is at least 3cm lower and sits too low in my hips. How can this be corrected? Or at least raised to some extent from it's current position
Answer: Can my belly button be moved back to its original higher position post TT? Thank you for sharing your excellent question. In most cases of a mini-TT the belly button is not moved or altered, rather only the skin found between your belly button and C-section. If your surgeon performed an “umbilical float” procedure whereby he cut the belly button stalk from the muscle wall (there would be no incision around your belly button) there is no way to safely move the belly button upwards. I would obtain more information from your surgeon to see what was done, they can offer you the best advice.

Answer: Belly button position The answer to this question has do due with what surgical technique was used with your mini tummy tuck. If the stalk to the belly button was left intact (thus preserving the blood flow to the belly button) it is possible to move the belly button back to a higher position at the expense of a small scar. If however the stalk of the belly button was cut in surgery then cutting around the belly button to move it will result in loss of all blood flow and it will not live. Further discussion with your plastic surgeon is recommended.

Answer: Belly button If you had a true mini and the belly button stalk is merely "tilted" inferiorly more, you could move it up but at the expense of a scar that will be below the new location (where our belly button is now). If the belly button was lowered as a "fre-float" tummy tuck, it would be unsafe to the blood supply to attempt to relocate it. In theory (actually reality) one could insert a tissue expander beneath the skin to stretch the skin over time and then release the skin to allow the entire skin/belly-button "panel" to be higher.

Answer: Tummy tuck expectations That's an interesting question. It depends on the technique your first surgeon used with the "mini" TT. If the belly button was cut free from it's base (blood supply) which is commonly referred to as, "floating" the belly button, then trying to move it up would be risky. We'd probably need some more details to help you out. Best wishes
