When I smile, the muscles in the side of my nose causes my nose to hook. There's nothing wrong with the tip of my nose or the shape of my nose. It doesn't move. The sides of my nose are pulling my nose up when I smile and I hate it. I don't want to get Botox if there's a surgery that could fix that.
Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. I have addressed this exact problem with rhinoplasty surgery in many patients. This is very a common concern for many of my patients. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Upturn nose when Smiling It is very uncommon to have a nose turn upwards with a smile. It is more common to have the nasal tip droop downwards because of a muscle called depressor septi. There is no easy surgery to stop the movement of the muscle that is causing an upturn of the nose.RegardsDr. J

Answer: My Nose Hooks When I Smile Noses are right in the middle of our faces, and as such, are very attention-getting for this reason. The anatomy of the nose is complex, and I would suggest an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine if Botox is an option.

Answer: Nose movement when smiling The nose and face move independently when you smile. Some noses go down and others go up like yours. While surgery can be effective, some movement patterns would be better treated with Botox. I'd have to see you in person to determine.

Answer: Movement and nose Movement of the face can make the nose look wider, flatter, depressed, or elevated. Rhinoplasty in and of itself will not change that.
