I've always really wanted to get them done but always delayed due to that medical history. Can some help please.
Answer: Breast implants and cancer. Hello, when considering getting breast implants, the potential impact on breast cancer screening is important to discuss with your surgeon. They can help you to understand how you would continue to screen for breast cancer through physical examination, and studies like mammograms, ultrasound and MRI.

Answer: Breast cancer and breast implants There is no evidence that implants would cause cancer or increase the risk of your having cancer in the future. Screening for breast cancer with mammograms is the best tool available at this time. It is your decision to have breast implants or not.

Answer: Breast Augmentation - Family History of Breast Cancer Thank you for your question. Unfortunately your concern is very common as way too many women have either a personal or familial history of breast cancer. With that said, a family history of breast cancer does not preclude you from having a breast augmentation. Before undergoing a breast augmentation it is common practice to send patients for medical clearance to ensure that they are in optimal health for their procedure and a mammogram will be required. Following a breast augmentation, patients can safely and should continue to present for routine screening mammograms according to health guidelines without fear as a skilled technician can perform a mammogram and radiologist can read a mammogram on patients with implants. If you are interested in exploring your options when it comes to a breast augmentation procedure I would strongly recommend scheduling a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. I would recommend addressing your concerns based upon your family history with your doctor but please take comfort in the fact that a breast augmentation will not interfere with necessary breast cancer screening.I hope that you find this helpful.

Answer: Breast augmentation Research has shown that you are not at an increased risk for breast cancer after breast augmentation. You need to get regular screening mammograms based on your family history, and the implants will not interfere with that.

Answer: Breast augmentation and cancer Many women have breast cancer in their families and still are able to undergo breast augmentation without any issues. Depending upon the details of your medical history there may be some tests required prior to surgery, but as long as there's no abnormalities then there shouldn't be any reason to delay a breast augmentation if you'd like to get one.A visit to a plastic surgeon's office will help you to understand if you're a candidate for the procedure, and what aesthetic outcomes are realistic in your particular case. In order to get a qualified, ethical, and expert opinion on your surgical options and expectations, always schedule an in-person office consultation with a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. I'm happy to see you for a free consultation in my New York office. Best of luck, Keith M. Blechman, MD New York, NY
