What should I ask for when I'm getting lip fillers?

Hello,Based on your photos you have a lovely lip shape and I would agree it's slightly fuller than average. So if you are hoping to have a natural lip augmentation with perhaps a little more definition I would recommend a finer lip filler which will add some volume but not too much. There are so many excellent fillers available now so the best recommendation will come from an in person examination that determines your exact goal and the longevity of the product you are seeking.  I do find it helpful when patients bring in photos of lips that they like to give me a better idea of the goal they have for their lip shape and volume. You have lips that most of my patients dream of: a very lovely shape and more-than-average volume. If the asymmetry bothers you (it’s normal, by the way and can be quirky and charming), you can have it corrected with a hyaluronic-acid based dermal filler. I’d recommend Volbella, as it is very thin and is excellent for correcting minor asymmetries and adding just a touch of volume. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some patients want natural but fuller. Some patients want over the top luscious. The lips in your photos have a decent amount of volume and pout already. In fact, your lips would be what most patients are aiming for. Given that its easier to add more filler than to take it away, I would start slow with 0.5ml or less of a thin filler like Vollure, Silk, or Belotero. You should start out with 1cc of juvederm filler or restylane filler and go from there. You do not want to overdo too much filler in the lips. It also depends on the look you are going for too. You can always add more filler to the lips if needed. Just remember if you are going to do your lips and you do not want to bruise you should not take any aspirins or anything that will thin the blood since brusing can occur. Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  I agree that you have slightly fuller than average lips and depending on your goal results you need not add much volume.  I would recommend a thin hyaluronic acid filler like Vollure for a subtle augmentation to fill out the lips instead of adding enough to enlarge them.  Hope this helps.

In order to achieve appropriate appearance and proper proportions when performing nonsurgical lip augmentation with volumizing fillers, experienced aesthetic physicians pay attention to and respect a number of different aspects of overall appearance and relative proportionality of the lips and surrounding areas. In frontal view, we look to see that the upper lip is approximately one-third the total volume of both lips together. We look to see if an unwanted "gummy" smile is present. We pay attention to how well-defined the philtral columns, "white roll," and the Cupid's Bow are. In side (full-profile) view, and, finally, we would ideally like to see that the upper lip protrudes about 1-2 mm beyond the downward pout of the central lower lip. Although there are no profile photos, it would appear that your lips are appropriately full, well proportioned, and possess a very well-defined philtrum, upper lip white roll, and Cupid's Bow.  All in all, your lips look perfectly fine, and I would say to save your money and time at least for the present time. Illusen.    First off, you have very pretty, full lips.  Since you desire a natural look, you may consider doing nothing, and save your money for something else.  Your asymmetry is minimal, and please don't get hung up on it because I would bet that most people do not even notice it!  If you really desire fuller lips, then go with something temporary, like Juvederm Ultra plus.  If you are unhappy with the change, it is not permanent. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist. Good luck!

You don’t have to decide which filler to use to give yourself a very natural looking lip augmentation. You just need to be clear about what you want. During your consultation with a board-certified dermatologist, he or she will talk about your best options. Lip augmentation has three very important factors to it, it is a specialized injection technique that you will only want a very experienced injector performing. 
First thing to consider is patient desire, in relation to their natural lip shape and existing volume. 
Then consider which filler to use. Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus are good fillers to use in the lips. They offer soft plump results. There are many other fillers to consider that can be used, as well.
This is where the consultation comes in.
When you consult with a doctor or injector, please ask to see some of their before and afters, check out their reviews online and ask how much experience they have injecting lips. There is an art and a science to injecting dermal fillers correctly to get the desired result without looking fake.

If they look balanced in repose then it might reflect different muscle function on each side of the face. Filler will not help that.
