The enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid filler is called hyaluronidase. It does take expereince to feather a service and selectively remove unwanted issues. It is not necessary to remove everything. I my practice I am always fixing and adjusting the work of other injectors. I use as much enzyme as I do fillers in my practice as a result. Ask if the office is comfortable with enzyme, otherwise find an expereinced office for this work and don't adjust this yourself.
There can be some swelling and/or lumps after lip injections which can last 1-2 weeks. You can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time, in order to help decrease swelling and even out the lumps. If you're unhappy with your final results you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. It is possible to partially dissolve, but it's hard to control the results versus dissolving fully. Best, Dr. Emer
Dear kyliestan, fillers have significant swelling post injection and can cause lumps. I would follow up with you plastic surgeon but typically I tell all my patients to wait a full two weeks. Generally at 2 weeks they are happy and glad they didn't dissolve. Dissolving is unpredictable as well.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Kate, first of all, double jaw surgery is not easy to go through. There is a lot of prep work that goes into it (braces to get the teeth setting right, then the actual surgery itself, then more braces to ensure your bite is proper - not to mention the cosmetic aspect of it!). You are doing a...
