My teeth are very large, and somewhat pushed forward. I had braces all through middle school and then had my wisdom teeth taken out after I graduated high school. Regardless of my small jet, I do have very large teeth. On top of that I have a very small upper lip that completely disappears when I smile. I have a very hard time wrapping my mouth around cups and glasses and usually have to use a straw to drink to avoid spilling and slurping. Lip injections? Teeth filing?? Better suggestions?

You have a lovely smile. However, the ideal proportion of upper lip to lower lip is 2:3. Yours is nearly there, but the upper lip is a bit recessed. You could augment your upper lip with Volbella to get a very natural and beautiful new shape and proportion. However, it is normal for your upper lip to “disappear” when you smile — this may continue even after your augmentation, provided you want something natural looking. Consulting with a board-certified dermatologist will allow you to learn more about how Volbella or another hyaluronic-acid based filler can give you the beautiful lip proportions you desire.

You should start out with 1cc of juvederm filler or restylane filler and go from there. You do not want to overdo too much filler in the lips. It also depends on the look you are going for too. You can always add more filler to the lips if needed. Just remember if you are going to do your lips and you do not want to bruise you should not take any aspirins or anything that will thin the blood since brusing can occur. One syringe is typically $550.

Thank you for sharing your question.  Personally I think your teeth look to be well-proportioned and your lips maintain average overall volume.  Based on your narrative I would advocate for incremental addition of a hyaluronic acid base dermal filler to add volume to your upper and lower lips until you achieve a size that you feel better approximates your goals.  Hope this helps.

You would get a nice improvement with lip fillers. These fillers, (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm) are good to create a symmetrical lip. PDO Nova threads can also be used to improve shape and also provide lift. Fat or implants are a permanent alternative. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. I can not speak to the dental portion of this question, but lots of patients get lip filler for small upper lip that disappears when they smile.  HA filler works great for this and is a fairly quick procedure.  Be sure to see an experienced injector.  Best of luck!

If you are concerned that you have "too" much of a "toothy grin" you could use either Botox or Xeomin to lengthen your upper lip decreasing the amount of teeth showing when you smile. Your lips would benefit from injection of Juvederm Ultra XC. This is my favorite filler for lips it is a Hyaluronic Acid filler and can be removed if you are unhappy with the result. I think the combination of these two techniques would allow you to achieve the look you want. Good luck.

Thank you for your detailed question and the photographs. Firstly, I would recommend seeing a dentist with experience in cosmetic dentistry. They can assess your teeth and mouth in order to work out whether there is anything wrong or can be improved upon. In particular, they can advise you with regards to the functional problems you describe. I'm not an expert in dentistry but I know that there a re potentially a number of treatment options which can help with the size, positioning and appearance of the teeth. 
Once you have had the teeth sorted out, then you can consider whether you still want lip enhancement. Augmenting the lips will make them look fuller and more even. It is essential that you see an expert doctor for a personalised consultation and treatment plan when seeking lip augmentation. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Juvederm are a great option for a natural looking and temporary result if performed by a skilled practitioner. 
In summary, get the teeth checked out first and afterwards consider lip enhancement if necessary. Best of luck!
