Cupid bow swelling 2nd day after lip fillers? (photos)

Question

I got my first lip fillers yesterday and i loveeeddd how they looked when i first got them done but when i woke up today i felt like my cupid bow has lost its shape and looks like a duck lip kinda like it dropped , is it normal ? plus my plastic surgeon hasn’t mentioned anything about icing my lips should i ice anyways?

Thank you for your question.It is normal for swelling to get worse before it gets better. I would just ice the area a couple times a day, until it resolves.

Hello and thank you for your question.  This is normal swelling after lip injections. It generally takes about 2 weeks following lip injections for all the swelling and bruising to subside and heal.  The lips have a very rich blood supply, and for this reason they tend to swell more than other areas of the face.  Swelling can cause lumps, uneven distribution and the loss of definition to your vermilion border and cupids bow.  These post procedure symptoms often raise concern for patients, however, I always advise waiting the full two weeks before judging your final results. In the meantime, you should ice intermittently and take Arnica to help with the healing process.  If for any reason you are still unhappy with your results at that point, you can have your injector dissolve them with hyaluronidase.  Best of luck!

Swelling can be typical and may be asymmetrical. Icing and cold compresses may give improvement. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

It's too soon to tell what the results will be. You can expect some swelling after lip injections, which can last 1 to 2 weeks. If you'd like, you can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time, in order to help decrease swelling. If after 2 weeks you're still unhappy with your results, follow up with your physician or see a cosmetic dermatologist for an evaluation. You can always have the treatment reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. After lip injections it is natural to swell, and depending on the product used and the individual patient it can be quite dramatic. The worst of the swelling process is around 2-3 days and will go down over the next two weeks. The swelling you present is within the normal limits and you just need to try and be patient now (easy for me to say I know). Icing may or may not make much of a difference at this time but may be worth trying as it will not harm you at all.

Yes, this seems totally normal for swelling right after fillers. Be sure to use ice on and off. Wait about 3-4 weeks for swelling to fully go down.

Thankyou for your question. Lips definitely swell and your photos look pretty much what you would expect. They will go down but yes I would suggest you ice them on and off for the next few days.Good luck

Swelling after lip filler injections is normal and can last for a couple of days to a week.  Use ice 20 min. on and 20 min. off for the duration of the swelling.  Keep the ice wrapped in a thin towel: don't put ice directly on the skin.  You can also take arnica orally to help reduce inflammation and swelling.  It is a homeopathic treatment that you can find at a health food store or order of the internet.

Thank you for your Question! In results with lip injections swelling tends to linger anywhere from the day of injection to two weeks. Icing your lips and sleeping elevated can help with subsiding the swelling down.
