Loose Skin after gynocomastia proceedure - is this correctable? (Photos)

I'm a 46 year old male. Just over six months ago, I had a revision gyno proceedure (the first was 13 years ago and left too much tissue). It's now been 6 months since the most recent proceedure. And I ave a lot of loose skin. I"m not too happy with things. I have an appt next month with my doctor to discuss additional proceedures. He mentioned something about skin removal. Is this correctable? Correctable with scars? Not sure what to go with.

Based on your photos, it does appear that there is residual skin laxity following your revision gynecomastia surgery. The good news is that this can often be improved, but the best approach depends on how much excess skin is present, your skin quality, and whether there is any remaining fullness or contour irregularity contributing to the appearance.

In cases where significant loose skin remains, skin excision may provide the most predictable improvement, but this does come with additional scarring. The location and extent of the scars depend on the amount of correction needed and the technique used. In milder cases, skin tightening procedures may offer some improvement, although they are generally less effective than direct skin removal when true excess skin is present.

Since you are only about six months from surgery, it is also worth discussing with your surgeon whether any additional skin contraction may still occur over time. While much of the healing has taken place by this point, final results can continue to evolve for several more months.

Your upcoming appointment is a great opportunity to review your options and discuss the balance between improved contour and additional scarring. A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon can help determine the most effective approach based on your anatomy, goals, and tolerance for scars.

From a surgical perspective, excess skin after gynecomastia surgery can be corrected, however this typically requires skin excision, which does involve additional scarring. In such cases, the correction is generally achieved either with a scar around the areola or a horizontal scar across the chest wall, depending on the surgeon’s assessment of the skin excess and chest tissue.
Since you already have a follow-up scheduled, I would expect your surgeon to assess your result and recommend the most appropriate option based on your individual case.

Thank you for your question and photos. You have what is called a "sad pectoral" due to poor surgical treatment of your gynecomastia. Yes it is correctable without any scars! To create a good result, the surgeon has to treat the whole chest wall based on the underlying muscle and bony anatomy. One has to remove the gynecomastia and fat from the anterior chest and also the lateral chest wall. You would also need skin tightening with Renuvion at the same time. Do not agree to skin excision with a long scar across your chest. See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculting techniques for an in-person consultation/evaluation. It does look like some skin removal would help give you a more contoured chest. However, this would probably leave you with more extensive scars, their length dependant on the extent of correction involved.
