I got the approval from my plastic surgeon to start scar therapy on Feb 2. My Dr. said I can do whatever pleases me( silicone sheets, bio oil, Vit E, Maderna, etc). I’m wondering if I can moisturize with bio oil in the morning and then wait some time for the skin to absorb and then put silicone sheets on the incision site of my breast augmentation scars. Would this be okay?

Answer: Can I use bio-oil and silicone scar sheets in the same day? Hello, Thank you for the question. Proper scar management is an important part of wound healing process following breast augmentation surgery. I typically recommend patients to start using silicone scar sheets at 2-3 weeks after surgery. Specifically, I would apply silicone scar sheet to the scar in the morning and wear it all day long (for best results) and at night, remove the silicone scar sheet and apply bio oil/aquaphor/or mederma by massaging it into the scar to hep break down scar tissue. I hope this helps.Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzBreast Fellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Scar management There's no need to wait for the bio oil to absorb, it isn't doing anything anyway! But heaps of patients use a lotion in or before showering, rinse off the residual, then apply silicon.
