Could I benefit for a small amount of chin lipo? (Photo)

Question

Hello, I am 28 and a healthy weight but have a very small amount of fat under my chin. I was wondering If chin lip would be a good option for me. I would prefer to go on the conservative side to avoid any complications.

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

Liposuction is a way to removed unwanted fat. This can be done in the chin area - submental liposuction. Oftentimes, a small amount of fat can give the appearance of a double chin. Lipo can remove this fat, and can often be done under local anesthesia and with a very rapid recovery. Or course, only a consultation can tell you if this is the best thing for you.

I appreciate you asking this question. Chin liposuction will help remove stubborn fat under the chin. Based on your photos, there only appears to be a small amount there. You may wish to have some skin tightening as well if there is skin laxity (hard to tell from the photo). I recommend a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in chin liposuction and renuvion or morpheus 8 or other skin tightening treatments for more information.

Hello, hope you are well. Submental 'chin' liposuction is great for removing subcutaneous fat--the layer of fat that is directly beneath the skin. It's hard to be certain without examining your neck in person, but based on your photos it appears more likely that the fullness under your chin is from deeper structures (the digastric muscles). If that's the case, chin liposuction may leave you disappointed.

​I find that VASER liposuction in combination with Renuvion or ThermiRF are best for contouring the chin in those who are candidates, but Kybella can be used as an alternative and gets better results when combined with Thermage/Ultherapy/Exilis, TruSculpt iD, or Coolsculpting. It's important to understand that there are two compartments of fat in the neck, above and below the platysma muscle. Liposuction can only accomplish removal of the fat  above the muscle, while a surgical neck lift is required to remove deposits below the muscle which also includes a platysma plasty to significantly improve the jawline. An in-person exam would be helpful

I don’t think the contour of your chin and neck is related to excess subcutaneous fat.
You don’t have a lot of subcutaneous fat, and the contour is more related to the shape and size of your mandible and this, in fact determines how the underlying tissue layers especially the platysma muscle drapes your neck. While your chin projects quite well, body of your mandible is somewhat short. You most likely have a significant overbite. I’m profile pictures. Your upper lip has significant more forward, projection that your lower lip. This skeletal relationship causes the platysma muscle to drape the neck in a more oblique fashion. 
I don’t think Liposuction is going to have a big impact because there isn’t much fat to remove.
Getting a quality assessment, for this part of your face counts to be complex, so expect different providers to have very different opinions about ways to improve the contour in this area. I think you’re going to find it to be challenging to get any significant improvement and it may be a good idea to leave things the way they are especially while young.
