Healing after a tummy tuck is usually retty straight forward. There is a process of swelling and bruising that peaks at 3 days after surgery and then undergoes the first stage of major resolution in the first 2 weeks after surgery. The lateer phase of healing takes place over the 2-3 months after surgery where everything really settles and softens. It is after this time that we are getting close to the final result, though this varies patient to patient. If you have any questions you should speak to your plastic surgeon directly to get the best informed response.
Most patients will be placed in an abdominalbinder, which they will wear the first week. There is usually a fair amount ofswelling and the binder should be opened several times a day so that there are no pressure points. After thefirst 7 to 10 days the patient is placed in an elastic garment for compressionover the next six weeks. Swelling can persist for several months andwill gradually improve and will look better at three months, six months, andeven one year. If you have concerns it is best to discuss them with your plastic surgeon as soon as possible. Best Wishes!#swelling #abdominoplasty #compression
Thank you for your question. There is a fair amount of swelling that can take place after a tummy tuck, especially if combined with liposuction of the waist, flanks or thighs. Though the swelling will not affect your end result, limiting the swelling with the use of a compression garment will help improve your pain and discomfort.
It is perfectly normal to have swelling and numbness after a tummy tuck which is expected to slowly have sensation return to normal after many months and even years following your surgery. Although uncommon, permanent numbness and tingling can occur after tummy tuck surgery, especially in the lower mid line area between the scar and belly button. In most cases there is some sensation present, just not the normal pre-surgical amount. Please speak with your plastic surgeon about your concerns. #tummytucknumbness #tummytuckpost-op#tummytuck#TT
It is normal to have even extensive degrees of swelling after a tummy tuck. I think it would be quite rare for extreme swelling to cause much in the way of permanent damage. That said, if there are other complications, it can affect your results. If you have any concerns about this, it is critical that you discuss the matter with your surgeon. I wish you the best.Dr. Gabbay
Hello dear, thanks for your question and provided information as well.. Significant complications of abdominoplasty are infrequent. Each year thousands of people undergo abdominoplasty without significant complications and are satisfied with the results. The subject of risks and potential complications of surgery is best discussed on a personal basis between you and your plastic surgeon. Some of the complications of this procedure are:Changes in sensation.vicious scars.Recurrence of diastasis.Allergic reactions.Damage to underlying structures.Deep vein thrombosisPulmonary embolism.Fat embolism.I recommend you to use compression under your garment to prevent swelling, you'll be fine if you follow your PS instructions always!
Expect swelling from an abdominoplasty for 3 to 6 months. This will eventually go down. You should be check by your plastic surgeon to see if this is soft tissue swelling vs a seroma or hematoma.
A tummy tuck, though given a cute little name, is major surgery. Major surgery comes with a significant amount of swelling afterwards. Though this swelling can be quite pronounced, it won't adversely affect your final outcome. My only concern, not having the benefit of photos or an exam, is that the swelling you are referring may be a collection of fluid (blood or serous fluid) between the skin and abdominal wall. If that is the case, it may require the attention of your surgeon. So, if you have seen your surgeon and these issues have been ruled out, then you shouldn't worry about a large degree of swelling after tummy tuck. The majority of it will resolve within a couple of months, and it should be completely gone at six months. If you have been advised to wear an abdominal binder or other compression garment, doing so may help limit the extent and duration of the swelling. Best of luck.
Swelling is expected after tummy tuck. You would experience the most amount of swelling during the first two weeks. Then, gradually a majority of swelling will decrease over 6 weeks. The amount of swelling depend on your surgery (with or without liposuction) as well as your body physiology and food intake. Normal post-op swelling will decrease over time; it should not affect the overall outcome of the surgery. If you are concerned about your swelling, please visit your plastic surgeon to make sure that you are progressing as expected.Best regards.
You will need to post some photos from before and after surgery to get any useful advice. It is possible that truly massive swelling can affect the outcome, but this is uncommon. All the best.

Hi, thank you for your question. It appears that you have an umbilical hernia. This can be repaired. I suggest you meet with your plastic surgeon for an in-person evaluation and discuss a plan of action. Best Wishes!#umbilicalhernia #evaluation #repair
Hi. A reverse TT will not fix your problem and the scar is much worse than a traditional TT. Your skin laxity does not look bad enogh to warrant a TT. My advice would be to have fat grafting and a small amount of liposuction to smooth the lumps and bumps. Regards
