I'm a 56-yr old woman. I´ve been having btx and hyaluronic acid applications on my face since I was 50, and Thermage radio frequency once a yr for 3 years. I'm happy w/the results, except for 1thing: For the last year and a half or 2, I've noticed btx does not totally ERASE frown lines. Can I have hyaluronic acid as a complement to botox if the latter does not completely erase the lineS? (in fact, they are not HUGE lines, but they're esp noticeable with lateral light/sun. Thank you in advance!
Answer: Botox For Dynamic Frown Lines; Fillers For Static Frown Lines The most important concept to get across is that Botox (and its competitors, Dysport & Xeomin) are used for injecting age-related hyperactivity of the muscles of facial expression, such as those responsible for the frown (scowl, angry) lines between the eyebrows. Fillers, such as Belotero Balance, on the other hand are used for elevating and smoothing fine lines, such as those present at rest between the eyebrows and that have resulted from years of daily frowning and emoting when concentrating. The point is that very often both kinds of treatments are needed to best treat this area (as well as the forehead and crow's feet regions). Botox benefits typically last three to seven months, and filler results around six to nine months. However, when both are done, the results typically synergistically last for about a year. Botox injections in the glabellar region have become quite routine over the years since I first began injecting them back in 1991. Most even novice injectors routinely perform them. However, filler injections for this region should be left to experienced injectors. Make sure to vet your doctors well and best to consult with an experienced board certified aesthetic physician. Best of luck and Happy New Year.

Answer: Persistent frown lines after botox As others have said, hylauronic acid fillers can be injected in this area, but make sure you seek out an experienced injector because this is a challenging and potentially dangerous area to fill. The other thing to consider is whether you still have motion of the muscles in this area after you get botox? Some patients require a higher than standard dose of botox to achieve full muscle paralysis for the glabella. Best of luck.Emile Brown, MDJohns Hopkins & Harvard Trained Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Filler Hello,Thank you for your question and pictures. Filler can be used to help the forehead area, but please treat with someone who is experienced in filling this area as it can easily be overfilled. Consulting with a local physician in person will help you determine the best course of action for your concerns. Best of luck!

Answer: Often a patient needs both Botox and Fillers for the glabella grooves. Botox often needs a little filler to fully get rid of the creases when the botox isn't enough. You can do them on the same day if you want.

Answer: Adding Filler After Botox Yes, once the Botox has taken full effect and weakened the muscle sufficiently if there is still lines present at rest they can be further softened with fillers. They can be improved, but may not be fully erased. Sometimes a resurfacing treatment is also added to further improve. This is a high risk area for injection of fillers because of the blood supply, so make sure you are under the care of an experienced physician provider to minimize the risks of complications.
