I waited 6 weeks before getting back into cardio - i'm back to my intense cardio regimen - no problem there. Once I hit 8 weeks PO, I started weight training. I was advised to start slow, however, I was able to lift the same amount of weights I did prior with no pain whatsoever. I, however, wasn't able to do any workouts that targeted my abs. After weight lifting, my abs started pinching and hurting - was a little uncomfortable. Is it ok to continue heavy lifting? Did I damaged anything?

Answer: Post op Tummytuck Exercising Usually by 8 weeks you are able to start back into your training. The rule of thumb is to let discomfort be your guide. If you feel any discomfort your body is telling you it is a little too early and you can consult with your Doctor on next steps. This does not mean you did any damage but I would suggest following up with your Doctor.

Answer: Heavy lifting after a tummy tuck The reasoning behind the lifting restriction is related to the degree of muscle healing. Many plastic surgeons agree that 6 to 8 weeks is the minimum time to allow this healing. You should follow your plastic surgeons advice regarding exercise and lifting. You should expect to have various new sensations when you start stressing the muscle. This is based on the fact that the muscles have been repositioned and that the nerves are slowly recovering from the normal trauma of surgery.
