The term concept facelift is a marketing term for a short scar facelift. Traditional facelifts involve tightening the deeper tissues(SMAS) in a vertical plane, followed by skin resection. Many terms have been used to describe facelifts, such as concept, short scar, lunchtime lift, etc... My recommendation is to visit a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss what type of facelift is best for you.
Thank you for your question! The term "Concept" facelift is simply a marketing term that has been attached to a standard facelift procedure. It looks to be a short-incision facelift with this name attached. It does not appear that there is anything 'special' necessarily the procedure called a 'Concept' facelift. I would suggest you seek out a consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who specializes in facelifts. You will be able to have a full evaluation to determine which procedure is best for you. I hope that this helps!-David Gilpin
mamared52. Just a marketing ploy. Some surgeons attach a sexy name to a standard procedure, like a mini facelift or short scar facelift, to try to stand out in the crowd. Seek out the advice of a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to explore the best options for you. Good luck.
Hi Mamared52,I had to Google "Concept facelift" to find out! When I did, I was brought to some youtube videos of a surgeon in the UK talking about 'a minimally-invasive technique he devised' blah blah blah...Turns out it is just your standard short-incision SMAS plication facelift performed under local anesthesia and some light sedation. "Concept" is just the name this particular surgeon is using to market his procedure. We surgeons have gotten numb to all the gimmicky names other surgeons have come up with for their procedures, as we don't describe them as such in our literature. Best to go to an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon (or 2 or 3) if you are considering a facelifting procedure and go with the one you trust the most.Best wishes on your journey,Dr. Jay
Many terms have been coined for variations on facelift technique and for other cosmetic procedures as well but they are basically marketing tools claiming better in some way. One aggressively marketed procedure widely performed under the name of “Lifestyle Lift” as part of a nationwide company went bankrupt as their claims of superiority eventually became unsustainable. In general I would rely on a physician’s reputation among other physicians, patients, before and after pictures, credentials and their ability to explain their procedure without resorting to marketing lingo or extravagant claims.
Unfortunately many practitioners, some of whom are board certified plastic surgeons and some of whom are not, choose to come up with catchy names for marketing purposes that have no relevance in terms of a new or special or better technique, yet they make every effort to distinguish themselves as better or different. It is best that you consult with an experienced board certified or board eligible plastic surgeon whose results on their before and after gallery are appealing to you and with whom you feel comfortable and confident. When in doubt, get a second opinion or even a third opinion. That surgeon will evaluate you and based on your concerns and your physical findings he or she will recommend a suitable treatment plan for you to address your concerns. Best of luck to you.
A concept face lift is a name someone put on a face lift, which is not new. New names for the same old procedures pop up regularly. Time has proven that face lifts must be individualized, and short cuts don't work as well and don't last as long.My suggestion is to consult a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and preferably a member of the American Society of Plastic surgery for the most experienced PS for your face lift, and you stand the best chance of getting a face lift that looks natural and simply turns back the clock without the wind tunnel look, and without scars that are conspicuous, which should by your goal. Face lifts must be individualized as they are all different and the aging process if different as well.Do your do diligence before you choose who does your face lift.I hope this has helped you. Thank you for your interesting question, and good luck.
If you are looking to perform a facelift procedure, make appointments with three busy facelift surgeons in your local area to talk about your options. Study there before and after facelift photo gallery which should be extensive with natural appearing results. In our practice, we perform a high-SMAS lower face and neck lift procedure which accomplishes tightening loose facial and neck skin, tightening loose facial and neck muscles, lifting the jowls and removing fatty deposits in the neck along with a platysma-plasty. For many before-and-after examples, please see the link and the video below
It is purely a marketing term to try to convey a magical uniqueadvanced procedure. "Named" procedures are usually only done by thesurgeon who coined the term. The "concept" face lift, similar to most"named" procedures, is used for publicity and is not recognized inthe valid plastic surgery literature. Claims of better and faster results are unsubstantiated. There are matters that are far more critical in achieving a good result thangetting a particular "named" or standardized procedure: Making surethat the procedure is individualized to your particular anatomy and desiredoutcome, having realistic expectations, and understanding the advantages anddisadvantages of the various available options. I would suggest finding aplastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideallya member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that youtrust and are comfortable with and discuss your concerns with thatsurgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California

Hello there FLMom18,It definitely looks like you are having persistent swelling of the lower eyelid area. This is pretty common but should be resolving by now. Talk with your surgeon and ask about lymphatic massage and possible steroid injections. Some people do swell longer than usual and I...
Well, looking at the pictures it seems to be still to much tension at your scars. The problem is surely solvable, but not by using any ointment. To asses the skin tension and the tension vectors a personall examination is necessary.Best regardsDr. Tribull, Berlin, Germany
