Did my doctor put 2 different size implants in during my replacement surgery? (photo)

Question

I am six months post op having replacement surgery (saline to silicon). I went from having 300cc saline to 495 silicon. My right breast is considerably larger, most likely the 495 as listed on my implant card and my left is much closer to my original size of 300cc. I have never had asymmetry issues even before implants. What do I do?

Good afternoon!The only real way to confirm the size is to remove them and see. But on the other hand if they are what your PS says they are then there is a pocket problem. Either way you need surgery to correct- so choose an experienced revision surgeon who has all of the possible implants you need on hand, and go forward from there. I keep an entire Mentor inventory of over 600 implants in my office just in cases- that's why I never come up short and have to make do with whatever is available!

Based upon your photos and my experience of doing thousands of breast augmentation surgeries, I think it’s unlikely that your surgeon lied to you & places two different sized implants. The more likely scenario is that you've developed contracture of your left breast. I’d contact your plastic surgeon about this; I’m afraid to say that you’ll probably need another revision of that side. Best of luck to you!

300 cc saline implants may have been filled to different volumes at your original surgery.  Some surgeons will remove the saline and measure or weigh the implant to determine the volume when having replacement surgery.   It is best to ask your surgeon to see what size implants were used and why.  Your implants cards have the size, manufacturer and style printed on it and it should be part of your permanent record.  Have a discussion with your surgeon.
