I had my Fallopian tubes removed this week, which required anesthesia. In 4 weeks I will be having a vein stripped out of my right leg ( side affect from twin pregnancy), which will require spinal anesthesia. And 2 wks after that I have my mommy makeover. Is this too much anesthesia within 6 wks? I have no family history probs with anesthetics. My heart rate is 38-45bpm, BMI is 20, body fat 12.5%.
Answer: Mommy Makeover After 2 Other Operations cvanwink. I appreciate your concern, however the primary question is will you be completely recovered from your gynecological procedure, including complete cessation of swelling, prior to the mommy makeover surgery. Six weeks should be enough time for recovery, especially if your surgery was performed laparoscopically. The leg vein surgery is another issue that must be considered. It appears that the safest option is to postpone the mommy makeover until complete recovery from both operations. However, I recommend that you update your plastic surgeon with a complete recent surgical history to allow the correct decision regarding timing of surgery to be made. Good luck.

Answer: Surgeries close together The concern is not so much having anesthesia 3 times in 6 weeks, but rather if you are healed from one procedure enough to have the next. The first two procedures you are having may place you at higher risk for developing blood clots. I encourage you to discuss your situation with all of the surgeons involved in your care. It may be best to postpone your MMO until you are fully healed from the other procedures.

Answer: Multiple anesthesias in a short time Three seperate anesthetic episodes , two of which are general anesthetics, in six weeks can present some increased medical risk. How much risk depends on a number of factors. A persons health status, including heart , lung , kidney , and liver funtion is a major determinate. What anesthetic drugs are used and length of the anesthesia is also important. I would be most concerned that you are having vein stripping two weeks prior to a mommy makerover. This puts you at significantly increased risks of deep vein thrombosis at the time of your mommy makeover. I would recommend delaying the vein stripping to a later date. Consult your medical doctor to determine what your risks actually are.

Answer: Three surgeries within 6 weeks - is it safe? Much of this depends upon the amount of time you are under anesthesia and the time to recover from the procedures. I would defer on this to the recommendations of the anesthesiologist of the second procedure. If you are rushing to have the first two surgeries performed because of meeting the deductible for the year, I would postpone the mommy makeover until 2019.
