I had juvederm 3 days ago and I am swollen have bumps and look deformed. Advise? (photo)

Question

I had previous restylene in my lips from 5 months ago and the new injector knew that. She put 1cc of juvederm in my lips and it's all bumpy and dispropartioned. She said the bumps are old filler but I've never had a issue especially my bottom lip.

It is not unusual to experience some swelling and bruising after lip injections. It can take up to one week for the side effects to subside completely. I would give yourself two weeks to heal and for the filler to settle. If you are unhappy at that point, you can schedule a follow up with your injector for an in-person assessment. The good news is that hyaluronic fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you are still dissatisfied with your results. Make sure you always work with a board-certified dermatologist with extensive experience in filler treatments to ensure an optimal outcome.

Swelling and bruising are common after lip injections and can take up to two weeks to resolve.  You can try gentle massage of the area for improvement.  If after two weeks you still have concerns, return to your injector for an evaluation.  The product can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if desired.

It is normal to have swelling still judging by the amount of bruising you have. Lips tend to swell and can take about 4-7 days to settle depending on the product and technique used. The visible bumps however are not ideal. It looks that your filler was potentially placed too superficial in the wet dry boarder, this creates the bubble effect underneath the mucosa. These can be dissolved, but I would wait 2 weeks for your swelling to resolve before treating so you can better differentiate  areas that need to be addressed.

Thankyou for your question. You definitely have bruising which can alos distort lips . I suspect from the localized swelling its NOT old filer. the Injector has either placed too much filler in one spot or too superficial. You will still need to wait 2 weeks for the lips to settle and then see the injector to have some of the filler dissolved in this area. It is not old filler . Hope this helps

It appears from your photos that the bruising is what is causing the swelling and lumps.  I wouldn't worry just yet about your results as it can take two weeks to see the full effects once the swelling has resolved.  Please consult an expert in lip augmentation for the best cosmetic results.  Best, Dr. Green
