Will my infected wisdom tooth affected my bbl surgery? Scheduled for 9 days from now, concerned about possible issues.

Question

My wisdom tooth is infected and it hurts really bad but it is bearable and I’m getting my bbl next Friday, will this cause any problems whatsoever? I’m not taking antibiotics as I am not supposed to take medicines, but I’m just wondering if the infection will affect my surgery in any type of way. I’m planning on getting them removed after my surgery in about three months and maybe take antibiotics after surgery. Thanks

Hello @cassy66666, thank you for your question. An operation should not be performed if there is any infection present, since it can be generalized. The safest thing to do is to cancel the operation if there is any infection present. Thank you for your question; Tooth infection can easily spread bacterias on the blood stream ( bacteremia) ; if there is any infection present previous to the surgery this can cause the bacterias travel to the surgical sites and get infected. The BBL is an elective surgery ,I will recommend getting treatment on your tooth infection by a specialist first and after your are totally cure get the surgery.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, you should be healths prior to any elective procedure and you can't have any active infection. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Tooth infection may cause Infectious Endocarditis, a significant health problem, if left untreated. Especially in a surgery like BBL, where immigrant fat cells will suffer to find themselves new lives and have the potential to get infected, first you must solve your tooth infection. This may complicate your surgical period.

Interesting ethical issue. BBL is purely elective surgery while a medical issue of oral/tooth infection takes precedence to elective surgery! If i was your chosen surgeon I would reschedule you to when no infection was in your body. GO GET YOUR ORAL TOOTH INFECTION TREATED!

An infected tooth should be dealt with ASAP. Plastic surgeons are not gonna be happy about doing elective surgical procedures on someone who has an active bacterial infection.
I suggest you contact your plastic surgeon and an endodontist ASAP.
