I've been diagnosed with breast cancer on 2009 when I was 28 years old. I had a lumpectomy, followed by chemo, radiation and tamoxifen for six years. On 2016 I was told that the cancer has metastasized to my hip bone which means the cancer is now Stage 4. I went through 6 weeks of radiation and I have been taking Letrozole and having Lupron and Xgeva injections monthly. My Bone Scans and Pet Scans show no signs of cancer activity, everything has been looking fine.
Answer: Liposuction Candidate & Cancer--VASER HI DEF 4D Liposculpture, ThermiRF, fat grafting If you are cleared by your oncologist, you can have liposuction. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Stage 4 Breast Cancer and Liposuction This is probably a good question to ask your oncologist. Only your oncologist would know your entire medical history and disease. One thing to keep in mind is that surgery on its own does suppress your immune system a bit and any surgery will require you to heal and recover. So just keep that in mind. I totally understand that you are young and would like to look your best given that you have been cancer free. However, you also dont want to compromise your health as well.Again, discuss this with your oncologist, and if he/she feels that it is safe to proceed, then go for it!Hope that helps.

Answer: It is risky to have #liposuction if I have been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer? Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Glad to hear you have no evidence of activity on your recent scans. There is always some risk with surgery and cancer patients may be at increased risk for blood clots, depending on treatment, body weight, and other considerations. Your oncologist would absolutely need to provide a formal written medical evaluation to clear you for surgery with any reputable board-certified plastic surgeon. There is no hard and fast rule that would preclude you from being a surgical candidate if your cancer is in stable remission; it depends on your general well-being, the length of surgery, the standards of the facility and surgeon. Go on some consultations to assess your options and good luck!

Answer: Lipo I am so sorry to hear that you have been going through so much. That being said I would defer to your oncologist. If they feel you are healthy enough to undergo a cosmetic procedure then it could be discussed. As to staging procedures I would discuss with your chosen plastic surgeon once the oncologist has cleared you for surgery.

Answer: Is it risky to have 360 liposuction while being on treatment for stage 4 breast cancer? Before considering any elective plastic surgery, you absolutely need to make sure that your oncologist and primary care doctor sign off on this. With impairment of your immune system, you can experience major complications and greater risks in general than the average person. If you do get the approval to pursue elective surgery like the liposuction that you are considering, make sure that you seek consultations ONLY from reputable plastic surgeons board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.Good luck!Steven Turkeltaub, MD
