Constipation after 360 lipo, what can I do to find some relief?

I am 3 weeks post op for the 360 liposculpture, loving my results but my bowel movements are still off is it healthy to take magnesium citrate weekly for this issue. I am starting to stress a lot about this matter

If you have passed several bowel movements following surgery but are not quite regular, adding a stool softener, increasing your fluid intake, adding fiber, or using a suppository can be of benefit as well as reducing your narcotic intake.  Otherwise, phone your PS for guidance.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Mahogany43   I appreciate your concern but constipation after surgery is common and caused by pain meds and decreased ambulation.  By now you should be off narcotic pain meds entirely, and at most, anti inflammatory meds all you require.  Go for a nice walk daily, and use a gentle stool softener like Metamucil until your bowel routine returns to normal.  Also consult with your surgeon to be sure my recommendations are agreed upon.  Good luck!
