I had a breast lift/small reduction about 6 weeks ago. It's taken me from a D to a B cup. I love the idea of not wearing a bra but keep finding conflicting information. Some say going braless doesnt matter as drooping is down to genetics/skin, weight gain, and pregnancy, others say it's very important to wear one. I even saw one study that said wearing a bra can actually make you droop more because it weakens ligaments since they become reliant on the bra. Opinions?
Answer: Bras Bras were invented to help support breast tissue and decrease drooping, so please wear your bra. No, bra, if properly fitted, will cause drooping. They do not damage ligaments in the breasts. Some breasts are so large and heavy that no bra will be enough to support all that weight. You invested in your breasts, so now invest in good properly fitted bras. Do leave the bras off at night while sleeping once healed from surgery.

Answer: Conflicting opinions on wearing a bra? Please advise (Photo) Sports bras may be OK for the first 6 weeks. I do not recommend underwire bras. Recommend that you follow your plastic surgeon's post-op instructions with respect to sports bras as surgeons will differ on their protocols. Answer: Breast Lift and Bra Thank you for your question and photos. I encourage my patients to wear a bra for the first 3 months following surgery while they are healing. After 3 months I allow my patients to go braless if they desire. Every surgeon has their own protocol, I recommend you discuss this with yours. Best of luck.

Answer: Breast Lift Hello, and thank you for your question. (Keep in mind that an in-person consultation is necessary for the best advice.) There is no evidence that wearing a bra prevents breast sagging. Since you have recently undergone surgery, you should follow up with your plastic surgeon regarding the types of bras he/she suggests. Best of luck! Matthew A. DelMauro, M.D.
