Dear yoyo124438,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination, but redness of incision might indicate an infection. I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello. Great question. Thank you for your pictures. I will suggest, calling or emailing your surgeon with more images to receive follow up instructions. Good luck with your recovery.
Things look great and right on track however if you are using a cream, steristrips or tape on your incisions go ahead and take a break from any of those until you see your plastic surgeon. Best Wishes!!
Thanks for your inquiry, best you call your doctor with early wound concerns, it look like a reaction to glue, tape or suture, but hard to know without an exam.
You may be spitting out some sutures, but go ahead and contact your surgeon for advice and possibly antibiotics.
Hello, and thank you for your question. (Keep in mind that an in-person consultation is necessary for the best advice.) It has been less than 4 weeks since your surgery. Your body is still healing. Healing can be associated with lots of strange sensations---even in the absence of infection or allergic rashes. Discomfort and itching as you have described is not uncommon. However, you should follow up with your plastic surgeon to make sure nothing more serious is occurring. Best of luck!Matthew A. DelMauro, M.D.
Call yoru chosen operative surgeon to be seen TODAY for examination and treatment options. Unless examined in person we really can not offer treatment recommendations via the RS internet..
Hi and welcome to our forum!Infection would be manifested as increasing redness, increasing swelling, increasing pain, the development of drainage, or fever. This would require immediate evaluation. Was there a dressing over the area previously? This could be due to irritation from tape residue. Itching suggests possible allergic reaction to the suture material. As you appear fair skinned, normal inflammatory redness may be noted more easily. Visit your plastic surgeon for evaluation.Best wishes...
At this point please keep in contact with your surgeon and follow their care instructions closely. Although there may be no infection, it’s crucial to keep the area clean to prevent one from happening.
No, you need wound care to avoid an infection and let it heal. I like diluted Betadine with saline on gauze changed twice daily.
Hello, and thank you for your question. (Keep in mind that an in-person consultation is necessary for the best advice.) It's difficult to know what is causing the redness that you have described. It sounds like your plastic surgeon is systematically addressing the typical causes. Be patient, and...
