Belly button looks extremely small after Lipo. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your question.  The change in appearance to your belly button is likely the result of the swelling that accompanies liposuction, and should return to its normal appearance with time.  If a large amount of liposuction was performed, some belly buttons are not as "stretched" and may shrink in size. Allow your results to mature before assessing any changes to your belly button.

If your belly button appears squished, it could very well be due to swelling in
your abdominal area. Liposuction shouldn’t affect the appearance of your belly
button, so I recommend waiting until your final results develop, which may take
several months depending on the extent of your procedure.

I wouldn't look at the results at this time, as they are not the final outcome there is a lot of swelling.  It will take 3-6 months to see the ultimate outcome.  Consider massage and venus legacy treatments at this time.   All my patients get hyperbaric oxygen for a week after hi definition liposuction. Thanks for the post and best wishes for a smooth recovery.  You undoubtedly have some swelling so soon after surgery and should expect the swelling to persist for weeks if not months.  I typically advise patients to wait until at least 3 months to assess their result at which time the swelling will have subsided and the skin healed to its new contour.  

Without photos, it's impossible to say, but at this point, you are still swollen. Which will definitely affect how your belly button looks. As you swelling subsides, all should return to normal. Best, Dr. Nazarian

Good heavens, you're trying to assess your results after only 24 hours?  I know, I know...you go through a procedure like this and you tend to want to look at every little inch as soon as possible but it's simply way to early to judge your final results at this stage.  I'm happy to hear that the rest of your abdomen looks so good.  Give yourself time to allow swelling to subside and your skin to contract before being able to critically assess your results.  This period may be anywhere from 6-12 months.  To address the bellybutton issue, though, it will appear different than the bellybutton that you had before the surgery but I'll bet it will end up looking very good and natural as your healing progresses.

Hello dear, thanks for your question and provided information as well.. I recommend you to wait, it is too soon to determine the size of your buttocks, also, it depends on how many cc's your surgeon had inyected

2 issues: First you are 'swollen!' Only less than 24 hrs from surgery.... Second why have you not seen or called your surgeon for an explanation? If your bb appears 'weird' after 3 months than you have a real issue.. Good Luck.. 

Thank you for the question.  It is hard to answer the question without seeing the belly button.  It sounds like there is swelling to your abdomen which is making the belly button seem small.  Swelling after surgery is normal and can become worse in the next couple of days.  Share your concerns at your post op visit with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. 

You are in the very early phase of healing.  Swelling can make the tissues look distorted.  You umbilicus will be just fine.  Relax and let healing take place.  My Best,  Dr C
