5 weeks post op mommy makeover. Why are my sides still very lumpy and uneven? Will this go away?! (photo)

I've been told this is normal, but in all the pictures and videos I've watched, no one else looks this way at 5 weeks. Most not even at 2-3. I starting to worry that this is my permanent look. I took this picture this morning when I woke up. I still have some swelling in the evenings after an active day. Not sleeping w a binder-per my dr.

After finally she still have a lot of swelling that will explain the contour abnormalities. You need to remain patient and keep in contact with your surgeon.

5 weeks after a tummy tuck is too early to know what the final result will be.  You have to wait at least 3-6 months to see if you need a very small and simple revision of the sides where the tissue is pouching out (called dog ears).  Be patient and discuss your concerns openly with you plastic surgeon. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Thank you for your pictures.  You can not compare your results with other patients that may have had similar operations.  Allow 3 months of healing then judge your results.  Your course sounds normal to this point.

It is very common to experience lumpiness after any surgery, especially a mummy makeover. This gradually improves with time and should disappear over 12 months. Massaging the area can help.

Appears as a bilateral "dog ear" deformity. Best to discuss with your chosen surgeon when you can have revision. I could revise under local anesthesia in my office operating room for $2,000 if interested...

At five weeks after your tummy tuck procedure it is still very early.  I would give it 3-6 months to decide if your final result is what you are happy with or if a revision of some sort is needed.  If the area in question does not improve by then, I suspect liposuction of those areas would take care of the fullness/un-eveness.  Give it some time and have your plastic surgeon re-evaluate you periodically.  I think taking photos on a regular basis is also a good idea.All the best,Dr. Remus Repta

Your results look good for five weeks based on the photos. Even if there is a persistent problem, it is usually very simple to correct. Way too early to get excited

The lumpiness and hardness after a tummy tuck or liposuction typically persists at least 6-8 weeks after the surgery then slowly goes away. I can take 4-6mths before you to begin to see your final results. In my experience, daily massage of the hard areas makes the biggest difference in getting rid of it sooner rather than later. If this does not go away on its own, your surgeon should be able to correct this easily. Hope this helps. Dean Vistnes.
