do doctors like you to be under a certain weight?
Answer: I weigh 240 pounds currently and I'm 5'7, will my weight be a problem? Am I still a good fit for a mommy makeover? I think that most plastic surgeons would recommend weight loss to reduce the rate of complications. I would search for the surgeon who you feel is most likely to give you the best results. Look at reviews and before and after pictures on that surgeon's website. Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA

Answer: I weight 240 pounds currently and I'm 5'7, will my weight be a problem? Am I still a good fit for a mommy makeover? Thank you for the question. Always best to achieve long-term stable weight prior to proceeding with mommy makeover surgery. Doing so, will increase the safety of the operation, will likely improve the outcome of the operation, and will decrease chances that additional surgery will become necessary subsequently. In my practice, I do not ask patients to achieve a specific weight prior to proceeding with surgery. I simply ask patients to achieve a long-term stable weight where he/she feels comfortable and does not expect significant fluctuation postoperatively. Generally speaking, the “ideal” patient for mommy makeover surgery is one who has completed pregnancies, is psycho socially/emotionally/financially stable, has an excellent social support system surrounding him/her, is capable of arranging enough recovery time, does not smoke and who has reached a long-term stable weight. Best wishes.

Answer: Patients with high BMI have more complications. Your weight per se is not a contraindication to surgery. Heavier patients do have higher complication rates.

Answer: Results may be limited ... I think it's great that you want to look and feel better. I agree with some of the others that the BMI is a concern. I recommend further weight loss and an in person consult follow the weight loss. This would give you a better assessment. It would be irresponsible to promise you any kind of results until the in person consult was done. Good luck!
