I'm 25 yrs old African American of West Indian decent. I have been wanting to reduce my breast and also my areolas. I have never been pregnant these are naturally the size of my breast...I'm hesitant to get them done before pregnancy, Due to the fact they would need to be redone. Dr's please help me debunk this myth. Have you experienced clients that had a procedure before pregnancy, then need to redo it afterwards is it true?
Answer: Plastic Surgery Before Pregnancy Thank your for the question and photo. You can have an areola reduction at any time before pregnancy and it will not change a thing when it comes to breast feeding. However, your areolas may stretch and look larger after pregnancy causing you to potentially need another reduction.

Answer: Areola reduction before pregnancy? Thank you for your question. Your body changes so much during pregnancy that if you get any sort of cosmetic procedure done before you are pregnant, there is a very good chance you will need further surgery later. Especially when it comes to breasts - they grow and swell during pregnancy and breastfeeding, which will most likely affect the longevity of your mastopexy, as well as your areola size. I recommend that you wait to do anything until you are finished having children, however, my best advice would be for you to schedule an appointment for a consultation with a specialist plastic surgeon. They can examine you and give you an accurate assessment of what your options might be now and in the future. Good luck!- Andrew L. Greensmith, MBChB, FRACS

Answer: Areola reduction It's possible to have this done for most patient before pregnancy, and depending on the technique, it will likely not affect breast feeding. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.

Answer: Breast lift A vertical breast lift would be ideal to correct your breasts. This will lift them, reduce your areolas and overall make them more attractive. You should have no difficulties breast feeding after this and should retain most of the beneficial effects of the lift even after undergoing changes associated with pregnancy.
