Making nostrils and nose tip smaller? (Photo)

Question

I feel that my nostrils are too wide and want to know if there is any procedure that could be taken to make them, as well the tip of my nose, smaller. I feel that my nose takes up too much of my face and would love to make it look smaller.

Rhinoplasty is a great way to make your nose smaller. When the tip is brought in and made shorter, the nostrils will also appear to be shorter. The best place to start is with a consultation with a rhinoplasty specialist where computer imaging can be done to help you see what you might like.

Overall your nasal tip is over-projected and ptotic (downward facing). In order to reduce your tip, the cartilages have to be shortened as part of an tip-Rhinoplasty. Your bridge could also use some narrowing and definition. The nostrils can be reduced with an alar base reduction at the same time.

you ask is a very reasonable one. I
would also like to emphasize that your nose is not as big as it appears in the
photographs as you are not using a 35 mm lens which represents human
vision.With your smartphone there is a “fish
eye” effect in which the central portion of the photograph is larger while the
edges of the photograph are smaller.I
certainly appreciate what you are stating, but it is also important to
reference exactly where you are versus the perception that the photograph can
create.When looking at
the photos you provided you could have narrowing of the nose and refinement to
a more “ideal” shape. The steps would
include refinements and reduction of the nasal tip cartilages, the width of the
upper and lower nose, with reduction of the ala on each side.My recommendation, given your location, would
be to research individuals in her local area who specialize in surgery of the

Dear Yagamis,Your nose can be made more defined and smaller by refining the tip and setting it back.  However, the cosmetic changes might lead to or worsen your breathing if not done properly.  It is important for your surgeon to evaluate the tip support, the strength of the lower cartilages of the nose, and the nasal value function...(the nasal valve is the part of the nostril that regulates airflow when you breathe in)...You should see a Facial Plastic Surgeon who is also an Otolaryngologist or Ears, Nose and Throat Surgeon for the best cosmetic and functional results. Great question.  Yes, a rhinoplasty can be used to reduce the size of the nose and nasal tip as well as reduce the size of the nostrils.  Sometimes an alarplasty (direct nostril reduction) is also beneficial.  I would seek consultation with several board certified plastic surgeons in your community whose rhinoplasty photos you like.
