I am having a breast augmentation. I have been advised to remove them but i cannot see that this is necessary. will be failure to remove them results in my surgery being cancelled or anything of the sort?

Answer: Acrylic nails and eye lash extensions before my breast augmentation? Thank you for your question. Close monitoring of the vital parameters is essential in surgery. There are however many different ways to do it. Ear probes can be used to monitor the oxygen level in the blood in the same way as a pulse oximeter applied to the fingertip would and my anesthetist and I use them regularly. However it is essential to ensure that the hands and nails are clean to reduce any potential contamination. With regards to false eyelashes, once again, the eyes can be protected in many different ways by the anesthetist during the procedure. My advice is to check with your surgeon and anesthetist as they will be in charge of your operation and therefore they have to feel comfortable and familiar with the method they use.
