Any benefit to using topical hyaluronic acid serum after injection of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers like Voluma?

Voluma injected into the deep dermis and subcutaneous tissues is not going to be affected any topical treatment. Hyaluronic acid serums/moisturizers can work well to improve the overall quality and appearance of the skin, so the net effect is likely to be beneficial, but both products will work independently of one another.

Thank you for sharing your question.  Topical HA serums do a wonderful job of driving moisture into your facial skin but will not prolong the duration of fillers like Voluma.  It does improve the results but through improvement of your skin quality rather than a direct effect on the injected material.  Hope this helps.

It's basically apples and oranges. Voluma works beneath the skin while any HA serum is topical. The latter can certainly improve your skin tone and texture which will improve your overall appearance, but it will not affect the Voluma. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question Doglu. Voluma is a filler used to enhance the appearance of the face. It is made of hyaluronic acid, which draws water into the skin and provides hydration. We have found that those that apply topical hyaluronic acid products see enhanced results of their filler and Botox treatments as it helps with fine lines and wrinkles. Voluma works much deeper than the surface of your skin so any kind of skin serum or cream isn't really going to affect it one way or the other. However, these things can improve the overall tone and texture of your skin which always helps. 

Thank you for your question. Topical HA containing products certainly help with moisturizing the skin, and can be a great addition to your skin care regime. However, topical HA products will not have an impact on injectable HA just as Voluma. All the best.

Thank you for your question. 
This is controversial.
There is no doubt that HA serums etc make the skin more hydrated; will they affect the Voluma, obviously not.
But should you use them at all or any moisturiser for that matter???
The hypothesis is that all of these surface products harm the skin, leading to damage by virtue of hydrating the top layer and having 2 effects:
Firstly they reduce the feedback for you to produced your own moisturiser thus you become dependent on externally applied applications. (I have tried stopping people using it and their own function seems to come back after a few weeks of dryness.)
Secondly the application of moisturiser creams reduces shedding of the dead layer which then reduces speed of new skin production and leads to thinning of the skin . This is ultimately bad and counterproductive.
I am not talking here about pathological conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, only normal skin where these creams are required to reduce transepidermal water loss  etc
I would be very interested in hearing opposing views.

This is a great question!  Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance naturally produced by our skin - it's primary functions include absorbing water (in some cases up to 1000 times its weight) to maintain skin hydration; holding together collagen, elastin, and other structural components of the skin; and helping the skin heal after an injury.  While both dermal fillers like Voluma and topical HA serums both contain hyaluronic acid, they are very different in their molecular structure, and ultimately their function in the skin.
In general, HA has very large molecules that are not able to penetrate deeply into the skin when applied topically.  Voluma consists of a highly stabilized HA compound, and it is able to lift and contour the face so well because it is injected deep into the skin.  No HA serum will be able to penetrate the skin deeply enough to increase the effects of Voluma, or make Voluma last longer.  
This isn't to say that there is no benefit to HA serums at all - many of the better formulated HA serums are able to penetrate the superficial layers of the skin.  There, they bind water and temporarily help plump up fine lines and help hydrate the skin.  Best of luck!
