Pain in teeth and gum after Voluma injection

Question

I had voluma injection 1 ml in each cheek sux days ago.on sixth day i m having intermittent pain in left gum and teeth .i also had 2 times a feeling of numbness of my left upper lip that lasted for few minutes .i am reading a lot about complications and starting to get panic .could it be vascular occlusion or nerve damage?

Thank you for your question. Numbness and tenderness are side effects that can occur after Voluma, however, they tend to subside within 2 to 4 weeks. I suggest that you mention this experience with your board certified facial plastic surgeon office / injector when you return for the post-op review.

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your current left-sided facial symptoms.  Without photographs it is difficult to render definite advice but this is less likely to be a vascular occlusion.  An occlusion would be seen quickly after treatment and is often associated with bruising/blanched skin and significant pain/discomfort.  Based on your narrative it sounds as if you have suffered nerve irritation from the swelling that accompanied your treatment rather than a frank nerve injury.  Allow your Voluma results more time to mature, you should have spontaneous resolution of all symptoms over the next several weeks. filler used to enhance the appearance of the face. With any injection there is the possibility that a nerve is irritated, which can lead to numbness and discomfort. This is usually temporary and will resolve on its own. Patience is important. Please

I don't think this is something to be concerned about. It sounds as if a facial nerve got irritated which can happen. It should resolve on it's own in 2-4 weeks. However, let your surgeon know how you are feeling as he or she may want to examine you in person.
