After Voluma cheek filler, how long does your face stay swollen? If given in one part of face does it cause swelling in another?

The hyaluronic acid-based filler Voluma may cause some very mild swelling for one to two weeks. It will not, however, cause swelling in any areas that were not treated. Voluma works to add some volume immediately, but you will get your full results after about a month when the product has fully integrated into your tissue.  It also stimulates new collagen, so the results will last for up to two years. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will give you a better idea of the improvements you can expect with Voluma.

Swelling can last 1-2 weeks and will not cause swelling in another area. If you're unhappy with final results, you can have it reversed and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for sharing your question.  Swelling after Voluma is typically minimal and resolves over a few days.  The filler takes up to 2-4 weeks to soften and mature in its results.  Placement into one area will not cause swelling in another, however.  Hope this helps.

Some patients are more sensitive than other and may see temporary side effects after the procedure, but even those side effects subside within 2 to 4 weeks. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

You shouldn't be swollen after your Voluma injections for more than a few days to a week or two. You can control swelling by avoid blood-thinning herbs such as gingko biloba and ginger before your surgery, avoiding aspirin and NSAIDs, taking the herb arnica, and using ice after your procedure. Having Voluma injected into one side of the face will not affect the other side nor cause it to swell. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist who has expertise in dermal fillers will allow you to learn more about the procedure and how it can benefit you.

While every patient is different, in general, it takes about two weeks for the swelling to subside in the treatment areas. And that swelling does tend to stay isolated in the treatment area. Hope this helps.

Swelling is generally limited to the areas of the injections and the surrounding areas. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations.  Good luck!

Every patients heals differently, but for most, the swelling subsides within 1-2 weeks. If you treated in your cheeks, it will not cause swelling in your chin, for example. Hope this helps --

Thank you for your question.  In general, swelling and bruising after filler injections can last for up to two weeks after treatment.  That said, in my experience, Voluma injections on the cheekbones tend to swell less than other fillers.  The minimal swelling tends to resolve within a few days for most patients, and they are able to return to work right after treatment.  Voluma is one of my favorite treatments for instantly adding volume to the cheeks, and subtly lifting and contouring the face.  Best of luck!
