Am I the only one who can’t get a smaller more refined nose? (Photos)

Question

Hello. I had a closed rhinoplasty on the tip of my nose 8 years ago. It’s still very bulbous. It actually looks the same as it did previously. I recently went to a plastic surgeon and he said the previous surgeon had taken what cartilage he could had so basically, I cannot ever get a smaller or refined nose as it will collapse: I’d like some more opinions on this. I’ve hated my nose since highschool.

Based on your photos, you are a good candidate for revision rhinoplasty. The tip still looks somewhat wide and long. So with a well performed tip rhinoplasty, you should be able to make it smaller and shorter while keeping it natural. Be sure to find a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.

The key is to make your nose smaller while maintaining support of your nose. This can be done. Your nose doesn't look so large to me. Depending upon how small you want it, it should be possible.

It's not *taking* cartilage that allows the nose to get smaller, it's *rearranging* the cartilage. At least from these photos, it looks as though you should be able to get much closer to your goal.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, you may benefit from a tip refining revision rhinoplasty. A surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. Fascial grafts may also be used to help improve tip refinement. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
