Rhinoplasty: which technique is best for elevation of the tip?

dear doctors: which technique is the best short and long term when it comes to elevating/lifting the tip of a sunken nose? (note: the tip of the nose should stay up for the rest of the life) 1.columella strut, 2.tip rotation, 3.tip grafts, 4.suture placement, or 5.septal extension grafts ?? thanks

The maneuvers that you have mentioned are all "tools" that the surgeon should have within the rhinoplasty procedure.  One is not better than the other because they each have different causes and effects based on starting condition and desires for each.  Which one is used depends on many factors including your specific problem, your request, desired outcome, mechanical limitations, functional limitations etc.  Make sure you seek a consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

Hello and thank you for your question.   All five of the techniques you have listed are techniques I frequently use for tip elevation.  The best combination of techniques truly depends on your individual nasal anatomy and goals.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after
pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon
and not just a computer animation system. The most important
aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek
consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate
you in person.

Which technique is best for a sunken tip? Each nose is different and all of those techniques are used. Choose an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who does natural noses and let him choose which technique is best for you.

It's important that you choose your surgeon based on producing natural results, and not try to choose the different types of surgical techniques that can accomplish your goals.  Rhinoplasty is the most difficult procedure to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so it is very difficult for patients to understand the technical differences between these maneuvers. In addition, everyone has unique anatomy for their nose, and   a  Unique surgical plan is required to be made after an in-person examination by your surgeon.
