I'm a singer. Will a nose job change my voice?

There is no short answer to your question as changes to your voice will depend on several factors with regards to your surgery.  I would say that it is unlikely that you will experience any significant changes to your voice unless you either have a great deal of nasal congestion prior to surgery or you have nasal congestion following your rhinoplasty surgery.  Changing the external appearance of your nose without significantly altering your ability to breath through your nose should not impact the sound of your voice.

Rhinoplasty doesn't change the voice if it is done conservatively.  Changes that affect the nasal passage can cause changes to the voice or a more nasal quality.  These changes would include major reduction in the profile or over narrowing of the tip.  Discussion of your desires with your surgeon will help you to determine whether the changes desired would impact the quality of your voice.

Dear Meg,   Thanks for submitting your pictures. From observing your face and your nose, you appear to have high bridge, over projected tip and asymmetrical root of the nose. Your face is very attractive - nice balance and harmony, however the nose is out of balance and reducing it's size will make you even more attractive.   Your voice quality depends more on the nasal cavity, so, internal exam of your septum and turbinates is needed. Lowering the bridge height will require osteotomy(bone fracture) of the nasal slope, which will narrow the nasal air passages, so, septoplasty and turbinectomy might be necessary , in order to keep the nasal airways wide open.  As you can see, rhinoplasty is not simple surgery and experience, skills ans aesthetic eye are critical for good outcome. So, do your due diligence carefully and choose your surgeon wisely, to avoid bad result and need for corrective surgery.   Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who do lots of rhinoplasty surgeries in accredited surgery center for your safety. The configuration and shape of everyone's nose contributes to the resonant quality of their voices.If you listen closely to the progression of Michael Jackson's voice from the time he was young to the time he passed away, you may notice that his older voice reveals a slightly more hypo nasal quality. The likelihood of experiencing change in the resonant quality of your voice after rhinoplasty surgery may be estimated during an examination. Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your
photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can
accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your
lower nose. You may also benefit from nasal tip deprojection.  If good technique is used, your voice should not change.   Make sure you specifically look at before and after
pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon
and not just a computer animation system. The most important
aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek
consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate
you in person.
