Got my lips injected with juverdern about 3 months ago and this happened. One side looks swollen. Will the swelling go down or do i have to inject the other side in order to make my lips look even again?

At this point all of the swelling has most likely resolved. What you are left with is inappropriate filler placement. I would have the filler dissolved with Hyaluronidase and start over. Make sure you find an experienced injector. Best wishes.

It isn't typical to have a flare up of swelling this long after lip injections. This can be reversed with hyaluronidase. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question.  It is also advisable to avoid any NSAID’s before and after treatment as they tend to thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising and swelling.  It is common to have some swelling after fillers for lip augmentation which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can apply cold compresses to the area to help reduce swelling and bruising.If you have any other concerns please contact your treating physician. Best of Luck!

Uneven filler that is present after 3 months is not due to swelling most likely.  To make the lips more even some either needs to be dissolved or more added to the opposite side. Please follow up with your treating physician to work towards making lips more symmetrical.

after three months with Juvederm is not common. It’s not unusual for patients to have contour irregularities of their
lips immediately following injections with Juvederm. In most patients this is
usually related to swelling and can take up to 2 weeks to resolve.
Unfortunately in some cases, these lumps may be related to uneven injection of
Juvederm. Your doctor may want to dissolve the filler with an enzyme known as
hyaluronidase. I recommend you follow up with your injector for an evaluation.

At three months all swelling is resolved.  If you have concerns about asymmetry I encourage you to return to your injector for an evaluation.  You can either add more product to attempt to even things out or have the product dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Thank you for your question, and for submitting your photo.  Swelling after lip filler injections should resolve completely after 1-2 weeks - it would be highly unusual for swelling to persist for months afterwards.  It is more likely that there is a small nodule of Juvederm on one side of your lip.  I would recommend that you follow-up with your injector to discuss your concerns.  Sometimes, it is possible to treat mild asymmetry or nodules with gentle massage.  Otherwise, your injector should be able to dissolve the excess filler with a medication called hyaluronidase. Dear Katharin Thank you for your question and photograph.Best to check your before picture before you start to worry about asymmetric lip filling.You can gently massage the bigger side and it does go down.I would suggest that it is not very noticeable to anyone but you and is better left alone if massage does not fix it and it was symmetrical to start with.If you must dissolve then it may well mean starting again as you may lose all the filler so I would be loath to go down this route in your case.Kind RegardsDr Dinesh MainiZenith Cosmetic Clinics
