After my first BA, it took a full 3 months for my round mod+ 325 cc sientra implants to settle in. I plan to downsize by about 100 cc to anatomicals. What kind of recovery can I expect? I've heard that it doesn't take as long for things to settle after the second operation. Might I have a good idea of my results after 2 weeks or so?
Answer: Revision Breast Augmentation Recovery Hello,Drop and fluff is the phenomenon of tissue expansion and settling of your implants. After your revision surgery, you will be shrinking in size so no drop and fluff will occur, and you should not expect much change in your appearance during the recovery period. I assume you surgeon will be placing internal sutures to make the pocket more fitted for the smaller, shaped implants. Your recovery should be very easy. The combination of a smaller and anatomically shaped implants will leave your upper poles soft and natural appearing. I commend you on your choice of implants. Their more cohesive gel will give you a reliable and long lasting shape to your breasts with the least amount of rippling. Best of luck!

Answer: Drop and fluff faster after second Breast Augmentation? I appreciate your question. Revision breast surgery usually entails a faster, less painful recovery, as well as quicker "settling" of your results. Since you will be downsizing, there will not be much change in your appearance during the recovery period. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery. Best of luck! Dr. Schwartz

Answer: Drop and fluff faster after second Breast Augmentation? Thank you for your question. In general, revisionary breast surgery usually entails a quicker, less painful recovery, as well as faster "settling" of your results. This does assume that additional work to ensure proper placement of the anatomic implants is not needed, such as converting the position of the implant pocket or significant work in your current pocket to narrow the size in anticipation of a smaller implant. But of luck on your upcoming surgery!

Answer: Breast Revision with Anatomical Implants Most patients would agree that the recovery with breast revision surgery is generally much faster and less uncomfortable that the first surgery. This is all assuming that the same pocket is used. If the implants were placed in a subglandular position and now they are being placed in a submuscular position, then this may not be true.My experience is that with the textured anatomical implants, there tends to be a bit more swelling than the smooth round implants, therefore it may take a bit longer before all the swelling is gone. However, with anatomic implants there is minimal "settling in" as there is with the smooth round implants.Hope that helps, good luck.

Answer: Changing implant shape Faster recovery is associated with revision type surgery in most cases. You are changing from a round to anatomical shaped breast implants. They may settle faster but textured implants require tissue adherence to maintain position. Follow you surgeon's care.Best Wishes,Nana Mizuguchi
