So my doctor said to wear foams PLUS ab & back board under my faja for 6-8 weeks but idk why that just seems unreasonable. I feel like i see most women transition to fajas only after about 3-4 weeks
Answer: PLASTIC SURGEONS HAVE DIFFERENT POST-OPERATIVE PROTOCOLS. Hello hdaanouni, It’s a pleasure to answer your questions! Every patient is unique and plastic surgeons have different post-operative protocols, customized for every patient, to achieve the best results. Based on my experience, wearing post-surgical specialized compression garments, immediately after the surgery, is an essential measure for speeding up patients’ recovery. I typically suggest my patients obtaining their specialized compression garments (2 of them) and one foam corset prior to the Brazilian Butt Lift surgery (BBL) so that they won’t have to worry about getting them after the procedure. I usually suggest them wearing the foam corset up to 8 weeks and the compression garments for 6 months, around the clock. These specially designed garments are fundamental in helping controlling swelling, bruising and also with contouring by preventing wrinkling of the skin and enhancing skin retraction. I recommend my patients switching to smaller/tighter garments as days go by and they get a smaller, beautifully sculpted figure after BBL. It’s always best to discuss with your plastic surgeon about the type of garment and wearing time that fits best your specific needs. Best wishes! Dr. De La Cruz.

Answer: Post BBL garments All doctors have different rules on compression. The BBL is basic liposuction that I have my patients wear compression for 6 weeks to keep the swelling down . Contour irregularities I start addressing at about 4 weeks with massage program thru the girdle....using electric massage wands like you can find at CVS/Walgreens termed back massagers

Answer: Faja for 6-8 weeks if your surgeon has a significant experience in this procedure he may be saying that because he wants to avoid loose skin afterwards and does not see much contraction in your skin. If that is the case massages can also help as well. I would recommend you stay in close contact with your surgeon and address these concerns. If you don't feel your questions are being answered then I would get a second opinion by a board-certified plastic surgeon by the American Board of plastic surgery who has significant experience in this procedure.Best of luckDr. Michael Gartner
