Having bbl with 360 lipo on 8/25. I am 64" and 182 lbs. should I try and build as much muscle as possible all over prior to surgery? Will this make a difference in lipo or fat transfer? Thank you in advanced for all your help.
Answer: Working on the glutes Hi jmpratt6107; Our God given anatomy is unique to each of us right? And there is some potential but a limit in how much change we can achieve with exercise and diet right? But of course there is plastic surgery for what can't be achieved right!! :) As far as exercising before your, I assume fat transfer for your buttocks, the potential for improvement will depend on what you can achieve with this; but of course why not do this either before or after your procedure. We don't have any research to back this statement up but perhaps the improved blood flow to the area with recent exercise might help with fat survival, who knows. At the very least, you will have done everything to get your best results. As far as the fat transfer is concerned, there are newer technologies and better understanding of providing more consistent results with this, so be sure your doctor will be using these for your procedure. It is the most important determinant in achieving a good outcome.

Answer: Better to try and build muscle prior to BBL I would say that the muscle gain for the buttocks would produce a very minimal change in most women. However, I think that this can only help your physical and mental health. For most patients, the improvement in physique that can be made in 2 hours in the operating room cannot be achieved with diet and exercise.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Is it better to try and build muscle prior to BBL? There's no downside to building muscle prior to BBL surgery. The main thing with any breast and body contouring procedure is to make sure that you are at your desired weight prior to surgery. Weight loss after fat transfer to your buttocks will cause your buttocks to decrease in size as the fat cells get smaller. Good luck with your procedure!

Answer: Is it better to try and build muscle prior to BBL? Thank you for your question. There is no downside to building muscle in the buttock region ahead of surgery. Any volume you can build there will only serve to augment your results. Best of luck!

Answer: BBL and building muscle Thank you for your question and congratulations on your decision. Yes, you can definitely build muscle prior to your procedure. Building a full backside means working your legs, thighs and low back at the same time as your butt... and will only make you feel and look better. Good luck! Best wishes, Dr. Suzette Miranda
