Liposuction & Hydroxychloroquine causing severe swelling. Is there a solution?

Hi, I had liposuction and a Brazilian butt lift 10 months ago. One of the medications that I take daily is Hydroxychloroquine. After surgery, it has caused severe swelling; in my face, abdomen area and back area. Are there any solutions to this issue? Before surgery I never had this issue. I've tried not taking the medication & the swelling went away. But, I can not do that ever again, I'll become ill.

While there may be a lot of physiological changes immediately after surgery, everything should've settled down at 10 months.This may not have anything to do with surgery anymore.I suggest you follow up with your internist.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.

Swelling can be a normal effect of
liposuction procedure that can be felt within the first 4 to 6 weeks after the
procedure. In your case however, it is no longer normal since 10 months is long
enough to heal you. There should be no swelling; hence, you really have to take
this condition seriously. See your surgeon as soon as possible and discuss it
with them.
