I recently had "secondary" Lipo. The procedure went well, and I've been cleared to exercise. The only thing I hate is that my compression garment makes me very winded during my workout, despite me having a burst energy. For ex: I can run 4mi a day without a garment on, but only 3mi with it. It annoys me how draining it makes me feel. Should I just stick out the next 4 out of 6 weeks required, or is it ok to workout without it for 1.5hrs, shower, then put it back on?

Answer: Effectiveness of compressive garments in liposuction. There is no evidence that compressive garments of any benefit on the final outcome of liposuction even though most of us ask our patients to use them. I personally would not have a problem with you not using the garment during exercise but this is a question that should be answered by your surgeon.

Answer: Lipo garment and excercise tolerance Hi jhurt200First, I always encourage you and every patient to follow the instructions of your doctor. He gives you his sage advice to ensure your best outcome while minimizing risk of complications.Specifically with regard to liposuction, and especially secondary liposuction, compression is needed until your doctor determines it is no longer needed. The reason is that the compression minimizes the risk of fluid collections which could be a disaster, it reduces the swelling, and actually, may make you feel more comfortable. You indicated the procedure went well and I will assume that you are happy with outcome. You may choose to do what you want, but at this point, the results will depend on your choices.Congratulations on your successful operation.sek
