Back lift and arm lift can be combined.  I suggest avoiding heavy lifting and vigorous arm movements for 6 weeks after surgery but your PS may have a postop care regimen that works well in their hands.

Typically, the recovery period for either type of back lift (including combinations with an arm lift) is around two weeks. You'll likely have drains placed after the back lift to prevent fluid accumulation, although these are not usually required for the arm lift.

An upper body lift (UBL) is an effective body contouring procedure designed to address skin excess in the arm, outer and inner chest region. The contouring results are seen in the back as well. This is a common procedure after massive weight loss.A full upper body lift can be combined with a breast lift, breast lift with implants and male gynecomastia reduction. Recovery from this surgery can be upwards of 2 to 3 weeks depending on extent of the incisions and combined procedures. The area of weakness in the procedure is in the arm pit or axillary region, which is a source of wound healing complications and can be limited with appropriate care and activity, as well as adequate nutrition with protein supplementation.

Depending on the extent of your procedure you should be able to gradually resume your exercise routine after a few weeks. Full recovery is after a few months. It can take up to a year or so for your scars to mature and they will continue to fade over the years. To promote optimal scar formation it is important to closely follow your surgeon's post op instructions.

The total recovery time after an upper back lift is six weeks for most patients. Most patients return to work (with restrictions) at 7-10 days. In general, by 6 weeks all restrictions (including exercise restrictions) are lifted at 6 weeks. (Your plastic surgeon's postoperative protocol may vary from this, and it's advisable that you follow all of your plastic surgeon's instructions closely.)
