Can getting hit with a soccer ball in the chest ruin my breast augmentation?

Question

I am six weeks out from surgery (silicone, under the breast, under the muscle), and tonight, on my first night back to playing soccer I got hit with a ball, hard, straight into my right breast. The girl kicking the ball was directly in front of me so it was a pretty hard impact. Could I have ruptured my implant?

Hello, breast implants are very durable so many people resume playing soccer and other sports after they have healed from breast augmentation surgery.  However, it is not possible to determine if your breast and/or implant were injured based on a description.  If you are having ongoing symptoms it would be best to have a proper examination by your doctor.

Having said that, the breast implants are durable and will not fail from that. I do recommend avoiding gun shots and stabbings. ;)

Hi, smoores1309.  Sorry that you got hit by a soccer ball on your first night back.  Implants are very well-made and durable.  It is unlikely to have caused rupture of the implant.  However, the implant could have caused swelling, bruising, or implant displacement.  If you are concerned, best to be checked out by your plastic surgeon.  Best regards.
