Not sure what an open cannula is so I will just say that fat transfer to the face is done with pretty small 0.9 or -0.7 mm cannulas with a blunt tip and the opening near the end.  Fine cannulas require fine control and fat is usually injected with a 1 cc syringe.For other areas, there are many, many cannulas, but in general they have a blunt tip and the fat comes out the side of the cannula through one or more holes.

Cannula type for fat transfer depends on the application - are we talking about fat transfer to the face, breast or body ? All of these regions can be treated with fat transfer.

Thank you for your question. I am assuming the lack of answers come from the lack of clarity in the question. What kind of fat transfer are you referring to? What area of treatment? I prefer to use fat injection cannulas from Tulip, which are blunt-tip, side-open cannulas made specifically for fat grafting. Maybe clarify your question or why exactly you are wondering about this question and you will get more responses.Good luck!

In fat transfer, the cannula is the hollow tube that is used to deliver the fat to the tissues. The tip is usually blunt for safest application. The size depends on the body area. We use larger cannulas for fat transfer to butt or breasts, smaller more precise cannulas for facial fat transfer.

I've been doing fat grafting since the 1980's. I've tried every permutation of injection cannulas and I don't think the tip design makes a difference. Diameter has a modest effect
