My belly button detached after abdominoplasty 15 years ago. Is this a problem?

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your belly button issues.  I would advocate seeing your surgeon for an in-person evaluation and discussion of your current appearance.  It would be uncommon to have coughed hard enough to separate a scar and I am concerned you may have developed recurrent muscle laxity or a hernia.  Best wishes. 

It is very difficult to assess what's going on without photos or an examination. With that being said, there is a possibility that this can be improved with umbilicoplasty to tether the belly button to the muscle wall to recreate a more aesthetic belly button.  Good luck.  

Thanks for the question.  I must say that it would be impossible to tell you precisely what could be done to fix this without an examination, or at least a photo.  After 15 yrs. I can imagine an appearance for the belly button,  but I would always advise you to select a good quality Plastic Surgeon and trust the opinion that would be given after the consultation.
