3.5 weeks after tummy tuck and lipo I returned to work. I drive a bus on rural roads and have to do a lot of turning around in tight places, etc. Since returning to work, the swelling that was getting better, is now pretty bad again. Like it was at 2 weeks. I see my surgeon on Tuesday, but my ? is, should I consider taking more time off work at this point? Or will I just need to be more patient for the swelling to calm down with the activity? thanks in advance
Answer: Swelling returning to work? Hi Debbie. Swelling that appears when you return to full activity is pretty normal. Persistent swelling and pressure and pain in the lower abdomen should be brought to the attention of your plastic surgeon. Perhaps rest and another week off will help. Best wishes always, Dr. ALDO

Answer: Worsened swelling after returning to work post tummy tuck Thank you for your question. It can be normal to have increased swelling after returning to normal daily activities. However, an in-person assessment is always best. I would recommend asking your plastic surgeon to assess you on Tuesday. All the best.

Answer: Swelling after Tummy Tuck Thank you for your question. It is quite common to develop increased swelling after a body contouring procedure upon returning to normal acitivities like work. At 3.5 weeks postop swelling is still normal. You may benefit from wearing a compression garment like shape ware while up and about. Sitting from prolonged periods while driving is also likely having a significant influence on your swelling. Getting up and walking frequently during breaks would help. More time office is unlikely to resolve the problem in the short run. It will take a couple of months before the swelling resolves completely. Best wishes on your recovery.
